To celebrate its centenary, the Lam Ann Association will showcase one hundred commemorative treasures exchanged with a hundred Lam Ann chambers of commerce and hometown associations worldwide. The exhibition brings together representative gifts from around the globe, each one a conversation, a handshake, or an expression of shared sentiment. These treasures are not only symbols of friendship but also embody the Lam Ann community’s spirit of enterprise across the world while remaining deeply connected to their ancestral homeland. Together, the one hundred gifts convey the centennial mission of the Association—strengthening hometown bonds, fostering trade relations, and preserving cultural heritage—while building a cultural bridge that connects tradition with the wider world for future generations.
On the evening of 15 August 2026, guests arriving at Lam Ann Association were greeted by a striking 5-metre-diameter globe standing outside Lee Kong Chian Hall, adorned with photos from 100 Lam Ann clan associations around the world. Surrounding the globe was a sea of red – over 100 flags from Lam Ann associations, clan groups, and chambers of commerce worldwide, fluttering in the breeze. Inside Lee Kong Chian Hall, mementos gifted by each association lined the walls, each one reflecting its own local character and charm.
In July 2024, Singapore Lam Ann Association launched the “Visiting a Hundred Associations, Reconnecting Kinship Ties” initiative, aimed at strengthening ties, deepening exchange, and uniting Lam Ann communities across the globe. Over two years, the association undertook 10 overseas visits, and by June 2026 had successfully reached its goal of visiting 100 Lam Ann associations.
Special thanks to Mr Shawn Huang, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Finance and Manpower, who served as guest of honour. Committee members who had taken part in the visits also shared their experiences and reflections with attendees, who left the event with hearts full of gratitude and connection.
